Please note that following the closure of The Mitre, the Council Saturday Surgeries will now be held in WICKHAM BISHOPS LIBRARY, at the slightly earlier time of 10.30 a.m.

There will be a Parish Council Saturday Surgery at 10.30 a.m. on the morning of 16th July. Residents are welcome to come along to THE LIBRARY to discuss any matter of concern.

Wickham Bishops is a small village in the county of Essex with a population of just over 2000 residents. The village is approximately 3 miles from Witham which offers a main line station with services to London and Ipswich. Witham is also close to the A12.

 

The village enjoys good amenities such as a Church, new Village Hall built in 2006 (which accommodates approximately 15 various clubs and a new Children's Play Ground), the Library, General Store with Post Office, Hairdressers, Health Food Shop, Beauty Treatments Salon, Vehicle Repair Garage and Car Showroom, Estate Agent, Doctors Surgery and a public house serving food. There is also a 17 acre Sports Field with a Cricket Club, Football teams ranging from 6 yrs to veterans and Tennis Courts.

 

Wickham Bishops has received the following awards:

2015 Best Kept Village in Class 3 (between 800 -2000 residents)

2015 Village of the Year - third place

2009 Best Kept Village (Class 2: 2000 population)

The Village Hall gained a Design Award from Maldon District Council in 2008.
